The official opening of the large coal pit "Suluktu," located in section No. 11, took place in the Batken region. This was reported in a press release from the presidential representative's office in the region.

The opening ceremony was held today with the participation of the first deputy representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Batken region, Baktybek Toksonbaev, as well as local authorities and miners.

The development of the coal deposit began according to an agreement between OJSC "Kyrgyzkomur" and the company "Hunga Lifeng." The total investment in the project amounted to 65 million dollars.

The area of the new site is 863.1 hectares, of which 21.5 hectares are within the city limits, and 841.6 hectares are located in the rural area of Kulundu in the Leilek district. The coal reserves are estimated at 82.7 million tons.

The project provides for an annual coal production of about 900 thousand tons. The opening of the pit will improve the country's energy security, as well as enhance the potential of the coal industry and expand export opportunities.

It is expected that the project will create more than 400 permanent jobs for local residents, which will be an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the region.

As part of its social commitments, the investor has already begun implementing an infrastructure project: on October 7, 2025, the company "Hunga Lifeng" laid the capsule for the construction of a new school for 250 students in the city of Sulukta.

Work at the site is ongoing according to the established schedule, as reported by the press service of the presidential representative in the Batken region.
