Kazakhstan has imposed a temporary ban on the import of meat from Russia

Due to the deterioration of the epizootic situation in Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan has announced the introduction of temporary restrictions on the import and transit of live animals and livestock products from the Russian Federation. This measure is aimed at protecting the territory of the country from the potential introduction of infectious diseases.

The ban affects not only agricultural animals but also feed, raw materials, and feed additives that have not undergone mandatory thermal treatment. The ministry emphasizes that these measures are standard safety protocols and will remain in effect until the veterinary situation in Russian regions stabilizes.

The main reason for the introduction of such strict measures was the worsening situation in the Novosibirsk region, where a state of emergency was declared due to mass livestock deaths. According to official information, outbreaks of pasteurellosis have been registered in six settlements and there are more than 50 active rabies foci in the region.

In order to enhance control in the border areas of Kazakhstan, veterinary supervision has been significantly increased. Specialists reported the need for disinfection of vehicles and thorough inspection of all cargo crossing the border. Sergey Dankvert, head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, noted issues with the responsiveness of local authorities in some regions, but stated that the situation with pasteurellosis is under control.

The Kazakh authorities continue to monitor the developments in real time and are ready to promptly make changes to the restrictions depending on the successes of their Russian colleagues in combating disease outbreaks.
