Mass vaccination of livestock and pets has started in Kyrgyzstan

In the spring, preventive measures to combat animal diseases were launched in Kyrgyzstan. According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, vaccination of heifers aged 3 to 6 months against brucellosis has already begun, and blood samples are being taken from cattle for laboratory analysis.

Significant attention is also being paid to pets: veterinarians are vaccinating dogs and cats against rabies and have begun prevention against echinococcosis. As part of this mass campaign, sheep and goats are being vaccinated against sheep pox and brucellosis, while cattle are receiving vaccinations against sheep pox, anthrax, and carp. All these activities are funded by the state budget.

To maintain a stable epizootic situation in 2026, veterinary services have been fully supplied with the necessary biopreparations, antihelminthics, and disinfectants. This year, 135 million soms have been allocated from the republican budget for the purchase of veterinary drugs. Special refrigeration units have been installed at local sites for the proper storage of medications.

The developed action plan takes into account the livestock population in each region and has been coordinated with local authorities. Currently, relevant agencies have intensified control over compliance with veterinary standards in the storage of vaccines, as well as their quality and rational use by specialists on the ground.
