
The loan from the MAR will be provided for 50 years
In the first reading, the financing of the project "Phase 1 for the Kyrgyz Republic under the 'One Health' program in Central Asia" was approved by the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with agricultural policy, water resources, subsoil use, ecology, and environmental protection.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev noted that the total funding for the project amounts to 100.3 million dollars, which will be distributed among three ministries. Of this amount, 30 million dollars will be provided in the form of a grant, while the remaining part will be presented as loan funds.
As part of the project implementation, significant improvements in the veterinary, sanitary, and laboratory infrastructure of the country are planned. In particular, the following activities will be carried out:
- two new veterinary laboratories will be built;
- six veterinary laboratories will be modernized;
- two mobile laboratories will be purchased;
- forty checkpoints will be repaired and equipped;
- seventy-eight veterinary and sanitary laboratories will be modernized;
- forty-four laboratories will be equipped with refrigeration equipment.
In addition to the aforementioned measures, for disease prevention, the following will be procured:
- 875 thousand doses of brucellosis vaccines for cattle;
- 5.5 million doses of vaccines for small ruminants.
The project also includes training veterinary specialists who will work in agricultural and Osh state laboratories. Furthermore, the modernization of the laboratories of the Ministry of Natural Resources is planned, and the National Academy of Sciences will receive modern equipment, including smart technologies, drones, and mini-tractors.
The implementation of the first phase of the project, costing 31.79 million dollars, will be overseen by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry. Funding will be provided by the International Development Association.
