A deputy demands explanations from the authorities
At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with agricultural policy and environmental protection, Gulsharкан Kultaева raised the issue of the sharp increase in hepatitis cases in Tash-Kumyr.
She noted that local residents often approach deputies with complaints, indicating that every year five to six people develop liver cirrhosis, which sometimes leads to fatal outcomes. Kultaева emphasized that the relevant ministries cannot provide clear explanations regarding the reasons for this increase in diseases.
“People are offered various versions: it could be related to water, animals, or fish. However, such assumptions are not sufficient. The population needs a clear answer. Why is no one taking measures? Free tests are not available, and this disease poses a danger to the entire population,” the deputy stated.
In response, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, explained that some liver diseases can be transmitted from animals. He mentioned diseases such as echinococcosis and alveococcosis, which can be caused by dogs, cats, and wild animals like wolves and foxes.
Kerimaliev also added that in Tash-Kumyr, water could be a source of diseases. He noted that both people and animals bathe in the Naryn River, so the water must undergo a three-stage purification process before use.
