At a recent meeting in Bishkek, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova addressed Vice Mayor Azamat Kadyrov with a question about who will be held responsible for the loss of 52 historical and cultural heritage sites.

The Vice Mayor noted that all the sites underwent the necessary evaluation procedures. He added that some of them are in a state of emergency or are beyond restoration. According to him, the city administration is making efforts to restore those historical sites that can still be salvaged.

Kozhokulova, in turn, raised the issue of accountability for the historical sites that have disappeared from the list, emphasizing that they should be preserved by law, not destroyed. She pointed out that the destruction of some of these sites occurred due to negligence and oversight, urging the authorities to acknowledge this. "You need to make a loud statement about this, rather than remain silent," the deputy added, criticizing the actions of the city administration.

This discussion took place on December 26 at an extraordinary meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee, which was discussing the draft general plan for the development of Bishkek until 2050.
