At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on December 24, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova expressed the opinion that there is a need to develop mortgage housing in the regions of the country. She posed the question: "Maybe it's time to leave Bishkek?", pointing out that important strategic problems are not being addressed in the capital: yards have turned into parking lots, and there is a lack of control over population growth and social issues.

Kozhokulova also noted that the prices for housing offered by the State Mortgage Company are almost indistinguishable from market prices and are high.

She clarified: "Why are the prices like this if the SMC receives land plots and other benefits?"

In response to this statement, the chairman of the company, Talant Zhekshenov, stated that the SMC offers some of the lowest prices on the market, almost half of the market prices.

According to him, the cost of apartments for participants in shared construction is around $1,000, while similar apartments in the primary market cost $2,000. Currently, 80,000 apartments are being built, totaling 5 million square meters, and over 70% of them will be constructed in the regions to relieve the city.

Kozhokulova also emphasized that there are no necessary infrastructure facilities, such as schools and clinics, planned near the new residential complexes. She urged the company to focus on the accessibility of housing rather than on quantitative indicators.

Zhekshenov, for his part, explained that their task is to provide housing for those in need, and the construction of infrastructure facilities within large complexes is included in their plans.
