At the meeting of the permanent commission of the city kenesh on issues of municipal property, land management, urban planning, and architecture, it was announced that a quarter of the irrigation network in Bishkek requires major repairs.
Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev reported that the total length of the irrigation network in the city is 410 kilometers, and about 100 kilometers of it are in poor condition and need to be updated.
“We have developed a digital map that shows the location of the irrigation system in the capital and identified sections that require replacement or new installation,” he added.
In turn, deputy Kazybek Ergeshov expressed dissatisfaction with the situation regarding flooding on the streets after rains and snowmelt. “Water flows like a river due to the lack of a proper irrigation network. Residents constantly complain about this,” he noted.
