During the meeting of the commissions on social issues and housing and communal services of the Bishkek City Council, which took place on November 20, the deputies discussed the state of the purification systems at the capital's CHPP.

Deputy Rysbay Amatov, representing the "El Ümütü" party, raised the issue of filtration at the Bishkek CHPP. He noted that the city's residents regularly express dissatisfaction with air quality and inquired about the annual funding for filter replacement, as well as the schedule for their replacement and the brands used.

Deputy Mayor Nurgazy Kurmanbekov, responding to questions, reported that there are three types of filters operating at the CHPP. The new Chinese power units are equipped with a two-stage purification system, which includes an electrofilter and desulfurization systems, where the electrofilter is responsible for capturing heavy particles.

A similar two-stage purification system is also used at the old facilities of the CHPP. According to him, analysis shows that emissions from the CHPP account for 14% of the total pollution in Bishkek.

This year, modernization of three electrofilters on the BKZ boiler was carried out, for which 5 million soms were allocated.
Kurmanbekov also reported that a memorandum has been signed with a Korean company for $10 million in the form of a grant. These funds will be directed towards the installation of new filters with impulse technology on the old power units.

Rysbay Amatov inquired whether the issue of purchasing filters from other manufacturers had been considered. He emphasized that the city's residents constantly raise the topic of the need to switch to modern filtration systems.
