"One Belt, One Road": A Kyrgyz-Chinese Laboratory for Cultural Heritage Protection Opens in China

Recently, on November 27-28, a solemn opening ceremony for the joint Kyrgyz-Chinese laboratory dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage took place in the Chinese city of Lanzhou, located in Gansu Province. This event occurred within the framework of the Chinese initiative "One Belt, One Road," as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan.

Among the participants were the governor of Gansu Province, Ren Zhenhe, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the Cultural Heritage Administration, and other government organizations.

The establishment of the laboratory aims at the digitization of cultural heritage objects, the exchange of experience, and the training of specialists in the fields of restoration, archaeology, and cultural heritage protection.

In addition, Lanzhou University of Technology offered quotas for students from Kyrgyzstan for five-year study programs starting in 2026.

During the visit, the Kyrgyz delegation also familiarized themselves with the work of several institutions and museums in cities such as Xi'an, Lanzhou, and Tianshui.
