In Kyrgyzstan, between 6,300 and 6,500 new cases of cancer are recorded each year, as reported by the director of the National Center for Oncology and Hematology, Nurbek Bukuev, in an interview on "Birinchi Radio."

According to him, by 2025, more than 35,000 patients suffering from cancer will be registered at the National Center.

At the same time, 65-70% of patients seek help at stages 3-4 of the disease, when cancer is already advanced. More than half of those who come at stage 4 die within a year. This is due to the fact that patients often seek help too late, and the disease is not detected in its early stages, Bukuev explained.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, he noted.

In addition, he added that the increase in the number of patients is directly related to population growth. Comparing data from 2008 and 2024, he reported that in 2008 there were 86.1 cases of the disease per 100,000 people, while in 2024 this figure remained almost the same — up to 87 cases. This is related to the overall increase in population, the director noted.
