According to data from the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, only 43% of patients suffering from type 2 diabetes and 38% of people with arterial hypertension adhere to regular medication intake.

Many patients miss appointments with medical specialists, irregularly undergo necessary tests, and independently change their treatment regimens.

Among type 2 diabetics, 76% are aware of their blood sugar levels; however, only 23% have an understanding of glycated hemoglobin, which is an important indicator of disease control.

“More than half (79%) of them have elevated levels of glycated hemoglobin, indicating insufficient control over the disease. As for patients with arterial hypertension, 77% regularly measure their blood pressure, but 44% still have elevated levels. More than 90% do not know their cholesterol levels, which is an important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases,” the report states.
