At the congress on respiratory diseases held on November 13 in Bishkek, the director of the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy named after M. Mirrakhimov, Talantbek Sooronbaev, reported that in 2024, 624 thousand patients with lung diseases were registered in the country.

According to Sooronbaev, the mortality rate from respiratory diseases is 96 cases per 100,000 residents. However, in recent years, this figure has decreased by 26%.

Lung diseases rank first in prevalence in Kyrgyzstan and third in mortality. The most common among them are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, and pulmonary fibrosis.

Additionally, he noted that the diagnosis and treatment of severe forms of pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis continue to pose serious challenges for the country's healthcare system. In this regard, a new program aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of lung diseases has been developed. As part of this program, the establishment of a high-tech respiratory center based at the NCC&T is planned.
