According to information provided by Dinara Otorbaeva, a specialist from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Department, the number of cases of ARVI and influenza in Kyrgyzstan has doubled over the past week, reaching more than 36,000 cases. This data was announced on the air of UTRK.

From November 17 to 23, 13,054 cases of illness were recorded.

As Otorbaeva noted, 70% of those infected are children under 14 years old.

“Children are susceptible to illnesses as they are most often infected by adults — this applies to newborns, toddlers under 4 years old, and those who attend kindergartens. If we compare the indicators of the current week with the previous one, about 25 kindergartens in Bishkek have been closed due to quarantine, around 30 in the Issyk-Ata district, and 5 schools in Osh. Additionally, in some classes where the number of absentees exceeds acceptable norms, education has been switched to an online format,” she added.
