According to information provided by thoracic oncologist Ulan Balpaev from the National Center for Oncology and Hematology on "Birinchi Radio," respiratory diseases account for about 30% of the total number of illnesses in the country over the past ten years.

This percentage includes ailments such as pneumonia, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tuberculosis, and lung cancer.

Balpaev noted that the number of patients is increasing, which is related to the growing population, especially in Bishkek, where the population has increased over the past five years. Moreover, there is a rise in the number of visits to doctors, even among those who do not yet experience serious ailments. Patients often come for preventive check-ups, and sometimes lung formations are accidentally detected during examinations, which also requires medical attention.

According to the specialist, lung health largely depends on the immune system, a healthy lifestyle, and balanced nutrition.

Balpaev emphasized the importance of breathing exercises in fresh air and avoiding prolonged exposure to polluted urban conditions. He also noted that smoking increases the risk of lung diseases due to the intake of carcinogens and toxic substances into the body. Stress, in his opinion, also exacerbates the situation.

Chronic lung diseases can lead to oncological pathologies, and respiratory failure, in turn, can cause heart problems.

He added that the development of oncological diseases can depend on various factors, including heredity, environmental pollution, urbanization, and occupational risks, such as working with chemicals or in mines. Stress also plays a significant role, so it is advisable to minimize it. Balpaev urged the citizens of Kyrgyzstan to undergo regular preventive check-ups and to seek medical attention in a timely manner.
