In the Kyrgyz Republic, discussions were held regarding the establishment of a factory that will specialize in the production of medications against echinococcosis and other parasitic diseases. This information was announced by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the country.
The main goal of this initiative is to reduce dependence on imported medicines. The discussion was initiated during the visit of Bakyt Torobaev, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of these sectors, to the Kyrgyz Veterinary Research Institute.
During the visit, the minister also familiarized himself with the work of the institute's laboratories in parasitology, virology, and biotechnology.
The parasitology laboratory is engaged in monitoring diseases caused by parasites in agricultural and domestic animals. As part of the strategy to combat echinococcosis, studies are being conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the measures taken.
The virology and biotechnology laboratories are involved in researching viral diseases in animals and fish, as well as working on the identification and treatment of fish diseases.
The institute is also considering issues related to the development of vaccines, veterinary test systems, and medications.
