Erlis Akunbekov urged citizens not to hide livestock numbers during the census

In Kyrgyzstan, an important agricultural census will be conducted from March 20 to April 10. The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Erlis Akunbekov urged citizens at a coordination meeting to be as open and accurate as possible in providing information.

He noted that many farm owners underestimate the number of livestock and the area of land due to concerns that this may negatively affect social benefits or lead to new taxes.

“The agricultural census is critically important not for tax purposes, but for ensuring veterinary safety. Accurate data on livestock will allow the state to properly plan vaccine purchases, carry out preventive measures, and protect livestock from epidemics,” emphasizes Erlis Akunbekov.

Over the course of three weeks, specialists will take into account the following aspects:

— the condition and size of sown areas and household plots;

— the availability and size of pastures;

— farm buildings and yards;

— the exact number of livestock and poultry.

The census will be conducted with the participation of territorial statistical units and local authorities. The collected data will serve as the basis for updating the country's agricultural policy and will aid in the effective planning of the national economy.

The Ministry of Agriculture reminds that providing truthful information about personal subsidiary and farming enterprises is the key to food security and animal health throughout the republic.
