A 45-year-old Jeronimo dos Santos, a former UFC fighter, has gone missing in his homeland of Brazil. This information was reported by the publication Lance.
According to local sources, the incident occurred in the Rio Negro river, where at 10:00 AM local time, the athlete entered the water and did not resurface. Immediately after this, search operations began, but the fighter's body has not yet been found.
Witnesses and authorities note that the location where the tragedy occurred is dangerous: in this area of the river (a tributary of the Amazon), there is a sandbar that conceals deep holes and strong currents.
Dos Santos was a heavyweight competitor and fought against well-known athletes such as Alexander Emelianenko, Sergey Kharitonov, Ivan Shtyrkov, and Vitaly Minakov.
