In the new issue of the "Our People Abroad" column, we will tell you about Gulzhigit Piriev, who works as a taxi driver in Moscow.

Gulzhigit was born in 1995 in the village of Belovodskoye, located in the Moscow district of the Chui region.

“I did not receive higher education; I only have a secondary education. I finished 9 grades in school and studied for three years at the Kyrgyz-Russian Lyceum No. 28. I came to Moscow in 2016 thanks to a friend. This year marks the ninth anniversary of my living here. I periodically return to my homeland. Currently, I work as a taxi driver, renting a car. I also run a blog and have my own audience,” Gulzhigit shared.

He emphasized that Moscow is a huge city with limitless opportunities, but he warns: “One should not trust too much in love and the weather in Moscow.”

“On January 31, 2017, my relatives and I agreed to meet at Red Square, take a walk, and celebrate the New Year together. When my younger brother and I arrived at the square, we were detained by the police and put on a bus full of migrants. We spent the whole night in a police station, and in the end, we celebrated the New Year not with relatives, but in those conditions. I will remember this incident forever,” Piriev shared his memories.

He explained that his job involves safely transporting passengers, and any misunderstanding can drastically change the situation.

“In my profession, interesting situations occur. About 1-2 years ago, I was involved in two accidents in one day. I was driving a passenger to Zhukovsky Airport when it started to snow and the road became slippery. To avoid canceling the order, I was in a hurry and ultimately lost control, crashing into an oncoming car. We waited for the traffic police for four hours, causing disruptions for other drivers. As soon as they arrived, I decided to take a new order from the same airport. But while waiting at a traffic light, I crossed the stop line and, trying to reverse, only looked in one mirror — as a result, I crashed into a car parked behind me. I needed the traffic police's help again, and they arrived after four hours. When they saw me, they laughed and asked if I had decided to hit all the cars in the area. I explained that it happened accidentally and not intentionally. I realized it was not my day and went home without taking a new order. In the end, I lost time and money, as well as received a fine and a court summons, where I paid 5000 rubles,” Gulzhigit recounted.

He also noted that many Kyrgyz people live in Moscow.

“I only communicate with certain people — relatives and close ones. Mostly, my life is focused between home and work. I spend my free time with family and think about how to improve our lives,” he added.

Gulzhigit grew up in a complete family; he has three brothers and two sisters, who live with their parents in Kyrgyzstan.

Gulzhigit's plans include traveling the world with his family.
