President Sadyr Japarov shared on his social media page that 71 delegates of the IV People's Kurultai turned out to be insincere, claiming they participated in the elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh.
On the second day of the Fourth People's Kurultai, December 26, he answered questions from the delegates. One of the participants asked a question regarding the elections.
Speaking about the elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, the president expressed regret over the low voter turnout.
He also addressed the hall, asking those delegates who voted in the recent elections to raise their hands.
All present, including those who were live-streaming, raised their hands. Japarov had previously warned about the video recording.
I was struck and saddened that some delegates representing their regions shamelessly lied. The Central Election Commission confirmed that 71 delegates of the Fourth People's Kurultai did not participate in the voting.
“I will not put them in an awkward position by naming names. Each of them understands perfectly well what this is about,” the president added.
Earlier, speaking at the kurultai, he noted problems with voter turnout in the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh and suggested that delegates raise their hands if they indeed voted. All participants indicated that, according to them, they participated in the elections. After this, the president announced his intention to instruct the Office to verify whether all 700 delegates of the kurultai actually participated in the voting, using the CEC database.
