- During the IV People's Kurultai, held on December 25, the delegate from Kara-Balta, Dyikanbay Abdiyev, raised the issue of the need for prioritizing the gasification of the region due to pollution problems from the thermal power station and the tailings storage facility.

He shared that he had visited the ministry the day before, where he received clarifications on gasification issues.

“I do not intend to violate your instructions or create obstacles in the process. According to the information provided, the gasification of Bishkek will be completed within three years, and only then will work begin on the gasification of Kara-Balta,” noted Abdiyev.

The delegate strongly requested that Kara-Balta be included in the list of priority cities for gasification.

“You understand that the environmental situation in Kara-Balta is extremely alarming. There is a tailings storage facility here, a thermal power plant is operating, the Junda oil refinery is working, as well as recent textile enterprises. The smoke from these productions and the heating of the city using low-quality coal create dangerous smog that harms the health of residents,” he added.
