The main building of the children's art school in Karakol, located in the Issyk-Kul region, was erected 130 years ago.

The building is located at: 134 J. Alyshbaeva Street (formerly Lenin Street).

Narynbek Omurzakov, the current director of the school, notes that documents confirming the 130-year history of the building are absent. Initially, it consisted of one room. Its documented history began only in 1938 when 10 rooms were added to the building, and in 1960, another 9 were added.

The new premises were low and compact, but later, during renovations, the height of the walls was increased.

In 1953, a music school opened here, and in 2018, expanding its programs, the institution was renamed the Children's Art School of Karakol.

Currently, 313 students are enrolled in the school, and the total staff consists of 42 people.

The educational process covers 10 specialties, including: piano, guitar, violin, flute, komuz, choreography, accordion-bayan, vocals, visual arts, and epic singing (yr dastan).
Tatyana Kuznetsova, a piano teacher, shared information in 2017 that the building was constructed in 1893 by Y.I. Korolkov for administrative purposes.

“Korolkov used this building to address a number of tasks. His daughter lived nearby, and we maintained a good relationship with her. During the establishment of the Soviet Union, Rudolf Pavlovich Marechek came to the city, who played an important role in establishing Soviet power. Negotiations between him and Julius Fucik took place here. Fucik expressed admiration for the beauty of Karakol in one of his letters to his wife and noted that it is one of the most picturesque cities,” she said.

T. Kuznetsova added that after 1930, a model school was opened in the building, and later it was used as a dormitory for students of the agricultural technical school.
