The elephant was last seen in the Chaybasa area, where local residents are advised to avoid going out of their homes at night and to stay away from forested areas. Experts believe that this is a young male who has lost contact with his herd and has become very aggressive.
The forest department has already made three attempts to tranquilize the animal, but they have not been successful. The elephant can travel up to 30 kilometers a day, and more than 100 staff members and wildlife experts from several states are involved in the search.
This situation occurs against the backdrop of increasing conflicts between humans and elephants in India, which is linked to deforestation and the reduction of migration corridors. Over the past five years, more than 2,800 people have died in the country as a result of such clashes.
