The document emphasizes that the Botanical Garden serves as the lungs of the city and an important place for local residents to relax. It also functions as a scientific institution engaged in the study of flora, the protection of rare plants, and ecological education. The author highlights that the area of the garden is 42 hectares, and "the loss of each hectare will be catastrophic."
Furthermore, the petition mentions that, according to available information, there are plans to reduce the territory of the garden for the construction of sports facilities. As noted in the appeal, this could lead to the destruction of years of efforts by scientists and ecologists aimed at preserving biodiversity. The author calls for the search for alternative locations for the construction of sports facilities.
As of 5:00 PM on January 17, the petition has gathered 1,006 signatures, and the collection is ongoing.
Additionally, activists in the Kyrgyz segment of social media are urging mass appeals to government agencies regarding the situation with the Botanical Garden through the "Tunduk" app. In particular, they suggest directing appeals to the Bishkek City Hall, the Presidential Administration, the National Academy of Sciences, as well as filing complaints with the prosecutor's office requesting a review of the legality of construction on the territory of the Botanical Garden. A template for the appeal has also been posted on social media.

Subject of the appeal:
On the legality of construction of capital facilities on the territory of the Botanical Garden named after E. Gareev (Protected Natural Area)
Text of the appeal:
I, (your full name), am writing to you with concern regarding construction work on the territory of the Botanical Garden named after E. Gareev in Bishkek (the area on Akhunbaev Street/April 7 Street). Currently, concrete foundations are being poured for football fields and the installation of sports enclosures on the garden's territory.
I would like to remind you that according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic from January 2025, the Botanical Garden has been granted the status of "Protected Natural Area" (PNA).
According to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Protected Natural Areas":
1. Any activities that do not comply with the established protection regime and intended purpose are prohibited on the territory of the PNA.
2. The construction of capital sports facilities (football fields) is not included in the list of permitted types of activities, as it harms the ecosystem, soil cover, and irrigation network of the scientific institution.
Based on the above, I request:
1. To conduct a review of the legality of construction work and the pouring of foundations on the territory of the Botanical Garden.
2. To check for a positive conclusion from the state ecological expertise for this project.
3. To verify the compliance of these works with the protection regime of PNA objects.
4. In case of violations, to issue an order for the immediate suspension of work, dismantling of installed structures, and reclamation (restoration) of the damaged land plot.
5. To provide a response within the time frame established by law to the email address specified in the "Tunduk" personal account.
Date: (day) January 2026.
Collapse. To send the appeal, it is necessary to open the "Tunduk" app, click on the "Cabinet" icon, and select the "Appeal" category, after which click "Write an appeal".

This week, it became known that the Presidential Administration has begun construction of two football fields to the left of the central entrance, along April 7 Street. It is claimed that the selected area has rocky soil and a lack of water, which prevents green plantings from thriving there. The construction of the football fields has faced opposition from deputy Dastan Bekeshev, as well as a number of public figures and local residents.
The President of the National Academy of Sciences, Kanat Abdrakhmatov, believes that the construction of two mini-football fields in the Botanical Garden will occupy only 0.18% of its area and will not harm the ecosystem.
