At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 14, deputy Dastan Bekeshev criticized the plans to build football fields in the Botanical Garden. He emphasized that this garden plays an important role for the city, serving as its "lungs."

Bekeshev noted: "The laws on specially protected natural areas clearly state that the Botanical Garden is intended for the preservation of biodiversity and scientific research. Its creation is linked to the development of plants, including endemic species. But instead, we see attempts to build football fields! In other countries, gardeners take care of plants, while here we have football fields! Of course, such fields are needed, and residents of various districts are asking to repair or build new ones. I support the development of football, but none of the players have asked for a field to be built specifically in the Botanical Garden. Let's separate football and the Botanical Garden. This place is necessary not only for Bishkek but for all of Kyrgyzstan. People come there to relax, not to play football. There are other suitable places for such facilities. I am ready to propose alternative locations for building fields. I appeal to the president: football should not be in the Botanical Garden!"

It should be noted that the Presidential Administration is responsible for implementing the project to build fields in the Botanical Garden.
