Abdrakhmatov emphasized that the area of the Botanical Garden is 87 hectares, and only 16 hundredths will be needed for the two mini-fields, which is 0.18% of the entire territory.
According to him, the Botanical Garden should serve not only scientific purposes but also as a place for recreation and sports. "The mini-football fields will be created specifically for these purposes — for sports and recreation, especially for children," he added.
Additionally, the president of the National Academy of Sciences commented on accusations of "barbaric" tree cutting, noting that the area on Akhunbaev Street was in a neglected state: many plants had dried up, the paths and irrigation system were not functioning, and some areas were cluttered. In this regard, it was decided to remove the overgrowth "by the roots" to prepare the soil for improvement and planting, based on a scientific approach.
Abdrakhmatov also reminded that the Botanical Garden has a second plot on Gorky Street, covering 20 hectares, where scientific research and plant acclimatization are conducted. Access to this area is available to students by prior appointment.
He noted that one of the main problems of the Botanical Garden was the lack of quality irrigation. Currently, two deep wells have been drilled on the territory, a reservoir for water supply has been created, and the previously existing reservoir has been cleaned. A new irrigation network has also been built at a cost of 96 million soms, which will ensure water supply throughout the territory in spring.
In conclusion, Abdrakhmatov emphasized that there are no plans to build multi-story buildings or entertainment facilities in the Botanical Garden. All work is aimed at the benefit of people and ordinary citizens.
