He clarified that the new construction affects a part of the garden located on Akhunbaev Street.
“Since the establishment of the Botanical Garden, there has been a small football field. Thus, the new fields represent a restoration of what already exists. The area of this part of the garden is 87 hectares, while the mini-fields will occupy only 16 hundredths, which is just 0.18% of the total area of the Botanical Garden. We hope that such a small area will not cause harm,” the scientist added.
Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov also commented on reports of tree cutting in the Botanical Garden. He pointed out that in recent years, the garden on Akhunbaev Street has been significantly neglected, so it was decided to “remove all the overgrowth with the help of a bulldozer.”
“Some useful plants may have also been removed. However, in the new garden that we are creating, we will definitely plant both the uprooted trees and new varieties that were not previously present. We hope that in a few years, the Botanical Garden will become a beautiful and worthy place,” noted the head of the NAS KR.
Additionally, he reported that scientific research is being conducted in the Botanical Garden on Gorky Street.
Earlier, the administration of the Botanical Garden made a statement about the beginning of the construction of two football fields located to the left of the central entrance, along 7 April Street. It was noted that the selected site has rocky soil and a lack of water, which hinders the rooting of green plantings.
It is worth noting that in January 2025, the research institute "Enver Gareev Botanical Garden" was granted the status of a specially protected natural area, which was approved by the chairman of the cabinet of ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.
