On January 20, the Center for the Development of the Halal Industry under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce reported that the company "Rikha" had previously undergone halal certification with an unaccredited body. This body has since ceased its operations. Subsequent laboratory tests conducted by accredited laboratories found no pork DNA in samples of "Rikha" products.

Representatives of the company "Rikha" confirmed that they currently hold valid halal certificates issued by authorized bodies. They also noted that their production processes fully comply with halal standards, and scheduled inspections are carried out in accordance with established requirements.

The Center explained that approaches to certification in the halal industry are currently being reviewed. Changes are being made to the Code on Offenses related to combating fraud and enhancing consumer protection in the field of halal certification. There are also plans to work on the digitization of halal certificates, and the relevant state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic will continue this activity.

In 2024, a new Law "On the Halal Industry in the Kyrgyz Republic" was adopted. According to this law, products labeled "Halal," "Muslim," "Adal," and other similar labels must have a certificate of conformity issued by an accredited body.

At present, only the Bishkek Center for Certification, Testing, and Metrology, which is part of the Center for Standardization and Metrology under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, is accredited for the certification of halal products.

The Center for the Development of the Halal Industry warns halal product manufacturers against engaging with private unaccredited certification bodies, as their certificates do not have legal force under the new legislation.

Background:

According to him, the company improperly underwent accreditation, which led to the revocation of its license.
