At the meeting of the Intergovernmental Council on Standardization, Metrology, and Certification, which took place in Moscow in a hybrid format, a decision was made to collaborate in the field of standardization, metrology, and certification among the CIS countries. This initiative aims to create a legal framework for the application of interstate standards (GOST) by the participating countries.

During the meeting, about 30 relevant issues were discussed, including topics on conformity assessment, accreditation, and improving product quality. Attention was also drawn to the importance of barrier-free trade and strengthening economic ties between states.

The proposal from Russia to amend the existing agreement regarding the coordinated policy in the field of standardization was approved. It is intended to simplify the application of interstate standards by third countries.

In addition, the program for interstate standardization for 2026-2027 was approved, resulting in a decision to introduce about 290 new GOSTs.

The draft agreement on mutual recognition of accreditation of conformity assessment bodies will also be sent to the CIS Executive Committee for further consideration.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 2026 in Kyrgyzstan.
