In the Kadamjai district of the Batken region, in the village of Zhetigen of the Ak-Turpak ayil aimak, there are about 800 schoolchildren. However, this settlement does not have its own school, which forces children to travel daily to neighboring villages for classes.

Local residents report that schoolchildren are transported daily by buses, making up to 10 trips a day. Because of this, children sometimes arrive late to lessons, and some return home already in the dark. Teachers from Zhetigen also commute to work in other settlements.

Kanzat Shakirova, a resident of the village who has been working in the schools of neighboring villages for 7 years and is currently the principal of a school in the village of Ming-Chynar, shared her experience: “Every day I cover 14–15 kilometers one way. More than 20 teachers also commute to work from Zhetigen. Our village has about 50 educators — we have qualified specialists. It would be reasonable to build a school and a kindergarten here so that children could learn locally and teachers could work nearby,” she noted.

Schoolchildren from Zhetigen attend educational institutions in the villages of Zhash-Tilek, Ak-Tilek, Oryuk-Zar, and others daily. Some of them stay with relatives or grandparents in neighboring villages to avoid daily commutes. Local residents emphasize that land plots have already been allocated for the construction of a school and kindergarten in Zhetigen.

The education department of the Kadamjai district reported that the relevant authorities have received proposals for the construction of a school. In 2023, the ayil okmot allocated 2 hectares of land for the school and 1 hectare for the kindergarten.

According to official data, 1,000 land plots have been allocated for housing construction in the village of Zhetigen. Currently, the village has 1,726 residents and 420 households. Transportation has been organized for schoolchildren — a minibus provided at the initiative of the president, which operates in three shifts and makes up to 10 trips a day.
