Rinat Ümötaliev, 59 years old, a resident of the village of Dolon in the Tyup district, has been engaged in fish farming for the past five years.

In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, he shared that he dedicated more than 30 years to teaching.

R. Ümötaliev chose the profession of a teacher, following in his father's footsteps.

“I was born in 1966, in a family of 9 children, of which I am the youngest. My father was the principal of a school in Dolon for 29 years, and later the school was named after him. I spent my childhood in this village. After finishing school, I enrolled in an educational institution in Bishkek, where I received a diploma as a physical education teacher. I initially worked for 15 years in Tokmok and the capital, and then returned to my native village to help my parents. I got a job at the school and taught physical education and pre-conscription training. Before retiring, I decided to change the direction of my activities and develop tourism in the village,” he said.

In the summer, R. Ümötaliev raises fish in a pond, and in the winter, he provides a space for local residents to relax and enjoy leisure activities. In 2026, he plans to organize a 200-meter sledding track and is currently conducting tests for its creation.

“For the past five or six years, I have been renting a pond that belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture in the village of Dolon. I have developed about 3 hectares and am engaged in fish farming. My main goal is to protect the ecology and maintain cleanliness. I signed a contract with an incubator, and every year, fry of six species are released into the pond. When they grow, their weight varies from 500 grams to 3 kilograms. At the moment, I do not have mass catch and sale — it is mainly for fishing enthusiasts: a small fee is charged for a day. Local residents and tourists come to catch fish on a rod and relax,” he explained.

In winter, the pond freezes, and the ice reaches 90 cm to 1 meter thick. Under such conditions, we created an ice rink 30–60 meters long, where skating enthusiasts can have fun.

Additionally, at the beginning of this year, a road was laid to the hill located near the pond, between Tyup and the village of Dolon, to open a 200-meter sledding track. This year, we brought about 10 sleds and are currently conducting testing. All necessary safety measures are observed on the track. We hope that with the development of tourism, this place will become a year-round recreation area — both in summer and winter,” he concluded.

Rinat Ümötaliev is married and, together with his wife, is raising two daughters and another girl, and he also has two grandchildren.
