The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic recently adopted a new resolution regarding the functioning of the National Academy of Sciences, which operates under the president of the country.
As part of this decision, an updated charter of the Academy was approved, as well as a regulation on the coordination council, which will deal with fundamental and applied research in the field of science and innovative technologies. At the same time, a regulation on the election of Academy members was developed.
The resolution is also aimed at improving the legal status of the Academy and enhancing the significance of scientific expertise. A new obligation has been introduced to prepare two reports: one — an annual national report on science addressed to the president, and another — an annual report on scientific achievements for the Cabinet of Ministers.
In addition, the document outlines the procedure for electing members of the Academy, which now includes qualification requirements, age restrictions, and mechanisms for academic accountability. Provisions regarding the code of ethics for Academy staff and measures to prevent conflicts of interest in scientific and administrative activities have also been added.
