Currently, work is underway to return the facility to the city balance. Yesterday, February 8, the mayor of Osh instructed the relevant leaders on this matter.
According to the opinion of the city head, the current condition of the former "Turbase" requires immediate action: the building is in poor condition and needs major repairs. He noted that this place has historically belonged to the trade unions and has not undergone major repairs since the collapse of the Soviet Union, which is already 40 years ago.
“We have lost an important facility for children. Previously, it was a tourist base, and now we have no sanatorium for children's recreation. On the other hand, there is a magnificent garden located nearby. If it were transferred to the management of the mayor's office, we could renovate it and create a sanatorium for children there,” the mayor said. He also pointed out that the building is sturdy and well-built, and he feels very sorry to see it in such a state.
“There are three buildings here. Two buildings can be converted into a dormitory, and one into a dining room. The conditions are good: the shower and toilet are located separately,” he added.
Vice Mayor Sonunbek Junusubaev confirmed that there is a shower in each room. The mayor also noted that if the building is transferred to the city, it will become a wonderful place for children's recreation, and if this continues, nothing will be left — the building may be destroyed or sold off.
The director of the municipal transport enterprise Osh, Nurbek Ismailov, reported that the "Turbase" was still operational in 2005. The mayor was surprised to learn that it had been functioning so recently. Ismailov confirmed this.
According to the mayor, there are already problems with the roof, as water has started to leak. He emphasized that this place can accommodate up to three thousand children over three months of recreation. “The territory is magnificent, the garden is in place,” the mayor added.
At present, the "Turbase" is under the management of the trade union committee and, as noted in the report, has not undergone major repairs for almost 40 years, resulting in the building falling into disrepair. In the future, it is planned to transfer the facility to the city's balance, renovate it, and provide services to the population as a municipal sanatorium, which will be an important step in the city's social policy.
