— We have recently become deputies, and I was surprised when my colleagues started saying that my candidacy for the mayor's position would be proposed. I did not expect this, as I had just begun my work in parliament. After discussions, I met with the president, and we talked in detail about the prospects for Osh. He offered me to take on this role, as a young and energetic team is being sought. I agreed, understanding the need for change.
Budget and Completion of Projects
Akayev reported that the main part of the budget will be directed towards completing previously initiated projects. These initiatives require significant investments, and they need to be brought to completion.
— The bulk of the budget will be spent on completing current projects. We will seek funding for initiatives that were started by the former mayor, Jenishbek Toktorbaev. We need to work on tax revenues and attract support from the republican budget to implement everything planned.
Investments and Business Support
Janar Akayev also noted the decline in the volume of investments in the city and urged entrepreneurs not to be afraid to invest in Osh.
— During discussions with government members, we noted the significant debts of the city that need to be addressed. We will work on this. Many projects in which entrepreneurs have invested their funds have not yet received budget financing. I directly told the president: "We need good financial support from the republican budget."
The Chairman of the Cabinet also noted the decrease in the influx of investments. I want to appeal to businessmen: do not be afraid, invest in Osh. We are open to investors within the framework of public-private partnerships and guarantee the protection of your interests.
Legacy of the Predecessor
Speaking about the work of his predecessor, Akayev noted that the residents of the city have already given him an assessment.
— Jenishbek Toktorbaev was indeed respected and loved by the citizens. His work was very active, and I must admit that it will not be easy for me to take his place after such an outstanding leader.
Response to Criticism
In response to criticism regarding his lack of experience in executive power, the mayor said:
— I hear opinions that I lack experience in this area. I will try to prove my competence. Time will put everything in its place.
First Impressions and Daily Routine
Akayev shared his first impressions of working in his new position and talked about his daily routine.
— From a human perspective, it occurred to me that Jenishbek Toktorbaev could continue his work here. But now I feel a tremendous responsibility. I hope that the right decisions will be made within these walls.
As for my work schedule, I wake up early to take my children to school and kindergarten. Every leader has their own style. I do not promise that I will walk around the city at dawn, but I will work actively and regularly visit different districts.
