The construction of a new 220 kV substation "Isanova" has begun in the Osh region, with active use of drone technologies. According to the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the use of drones allows for highly accurate aerial photography and video recording of the electric line routes. The data collected with their help is processed in a three-dimensional format, which helps to analyze the terrain in detail and identify technical features and potential challenges during construction.
Additionally, a contract has been signed with the Iranian company Monenco Iran for consulting services. Research concerning environmental and social aspects will be conducted in collaboration with Mercados Aries International, S.A. from February 27 to March 31, 2026.
The use of drones not only ensures precise route planning but also allows for preliminary assessment of environmental impact and guarantees compliance with safety standards. This approach has become the first experience of implementing modern technologies in Kyrgyzstan and sets new standards for energy projects in the country. As a result, it will enhance the resilience of the region's power supply and improve the integration of renewable energy sources.
The agency also reported that new 110 kV overhead lines, which will be built in the Uzgen, Kara-Kulja, and Kara-Suu districts, will be connected to the "Isanova" substation. The lengths of the new lines will be:
* 110 kV "Isanova – Kara-Kulja" – 40 km;
* 110 kV "Isanova – Karatai" – 60 km;
* Double-circuit 110 kV "Isanova – Kara-Shoro" – 3 km.
These activities are being implemented as part of the first phase of the "Renewable Energy Development" (KRED) project in the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at improving energy infrastructure and enhancing safety in the sector, as well as significantly contributing to the development of "green" energy in the country.
