In 2026, significant work is planned in the Issyk-Kul region to update the electrical networks, which will ensure reliable power supply for residents. According to the Ministry of Energy, these activities will help strengthen the energy security of the region and improve conditions for consumers.
In particular, it is planned to replace 50 kilometers of outdated electrical wires with modern SIP wires, which are characterized by safety and resistance to adverse weather conditions. This innovation is expected to significantly reduce technical losses of electricity and decrease the likelihood of emergency outages.
Additionally, the overhead power line with a voltage of 110 kV connecting Tamga and Przhevalsk will be completely updated. The length of this line is 80 kilometers, and it provides power supply for the Jeti-Oguz and Ak-Suu districts, as well as the city of Karakol. The implementation of this project aims to ensure stable power supply for both the population and social facilities.
As part of the digitalization of the energy sector, in 2026, all consumers in the Issyk-Kul region will gain access to smart meters. These devices will allow for more accurate monitoring of electricity consumption and control of expenses, which will help reduce excessive consumption.
No less important part of the modernization will be the upgrade of the Przhevalsk substation, where it is planned to replace the 25 MVA transformer with a more powerful 40 MVA transformer, which corresponds to the growing electricity demand and will create a reliable foundation for the further development of the region.
As part of this program, 5 modern reclosers—automatic circuit breakers for distribution electrical networks with voltages of 6–35 kV—will also be installed. These devices protect lines from fault currents and automatically restore power supply during temporary disruptions.
Furthermore, 14 transformer substations with voltages of 6–10/0.4 kV will be installed throughout the region.
All planned and implemented activities are aimed at ensuring stable, safe, and quality power supply for the residents of the Issyk-Kul region.
Modern electrical networks will become an important factor for the socio-economic development of the region and improving the quality of life for the population, notes the Ministry of Energy.
