The spouses Almaz Eshaliev and Chynara Sulaymanova, who live in the village of Kyzyl-Adyr in the Aitmatov district of the Talas region, issued a statement regarding the innocence of their son, a police officer, who was detained as part of a criminal case on charges of fraud. They made this appeal on March 2, 2026, at a press conference organized at AKIpress-Talas.

Family members, as well as their neighbors, appealed to President Sadyr Japarov and the head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov, asking them to take control of the case of their son, who works in the Internal Investigations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is known by the initials M.E.

According to the parents, their son was detained by GKNB officers in Bishkek on the night of February 23 to 24, at approximately 03:30. He is currently in custody based on a court decision that imposed one month of detention.

The family claims that the investigation is one-sided and based solely on the testimony of a Turkish investor, A.D., who filed a complaint about fraud.

Almaz Eshaliev, the father of the detained individual, explained that he himself was a party to the transaction, and his son was merely acting as a translator, as he is proficient in Turkish (M.E. studied at the Turkish Sebat Lyceum and the Police Academy in Turkey).

In 2025, investor A.D. proposed that the family engage in eggplant cultivation. The terms of the contract included the free provision of seeds, financing for the work, and subsequent purchase of the harvest at a price of $10 per kilogram. An official notarized contract was signed between Almaz Eshaliev and the investor, while his son, being on duty, could not engage in farming and only assisted his father in communicating with the investor.

The husband and wife received tranches of $10,000 and $6,000 in May and July 2025, respectively. The parents assert that their son counted this money at their request, and this process was captured on video, which later became available online as "evidence of fraud."

The family also reported that they hired about 70 workers and rented 12.5 hectares of land. However, when it came time to harvest, the investors allegedly refused to accept the produce, citing quality issues, and stopped communicating. "Our harvest was left to rot in the field under the snow, and we incurred huge losses. No one responded to our emails and notifications about the termination of the contract. Now our son is being accused of deceiving the investor, even though he is not even a party to the contract," noted Almaz Eshaliev.

The parents also expressed dissatisfaction that the investigation did not interrogate the head of the family as the main participant in the transaction and immediately arrested their son. They reported pressure from the defense: according to their information, the state attorney suggested that M.E. plead guilty, pay compensation, and resign from the service, claiming that there would be no acquittal.

The Eshaliev family calls on the president to ensure a fair investigation.

On February 25, 2026, the press service of the GKNB clarified that an officer of the Internal Investigations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, E.M.A., was detained in the Talas region on suspicion of illegally acquiring funds from a Turkish citizen.

According to information from the state committee, in April 2025, the police officer, having gained the trust of Turkish citizen H.K., received $35,500 from him under the pretext of implementing a project for planting and growing expensive herbaceous plants of the "nightshade" genus for subsequent export to Turkey. The price for 1 kg of seeds of such plants is reportedly $3,000.

The GKNB also reported that in October 2025, the foreign investor filed a complaint about fraud with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, according to GKNB information, the investigative authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not conduct the necessary checks and refused to initiate a criminal case.

On January 27, 2026, the Turkish citizen again approached the GKNB regarding this case, after which the materials were transferred to the investigative authorities of the GKNB through the prosecutor's office.

As a result, on February 24, 2026, E.M.A. was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Talas city police department.
