In the United States, there has been a sharp increase in the number of deletions of the ChatGPT mobile app, which rose by nearly 300% in just one day. The number of one-star reviews surged by 775%, while app downloads significantly declined. Users are turning to the competing app from Anthropic — Claude.

According to reports, users in the U.S. reacted to OpenAI's agreement with the Pentagon, leading to a mass deletion of ChatGPT. Data from Sensor Tower shows that the number of uninstalls in one day increased by 295%, while the average for the past month was 9%.

At the same time, interest in the Claude app from Anthropic has significantly increased. The day after OpenAI announced its collaboration with the Pentagon, downloads of Claude rose by 37%, and the following day by 51%. As a result, within a week, the app climbed more than 20 positions in the App Store ranking, becoming the most downloaded among free apps.

Anthropic reported that it could not agree on terms with the Pentagon, fearing that its algorithms could be used for monitoring citizens or developing fully autonomous weapons. Apparently, some users support this viewpoint.

In contrast, downloads of ChatGPT began to decline. The day after the announcement of the collaboration with the military, downloads fell by 13%, and then by another 5%. Until that point, they had been increasing by 14% daily.

There has also been a sharp rise in negative reviews on social media. On Saturday, the number of one-star ratings for ChatGPT increased by 775%, and on Sunday by another 100%. At the same time, the number of five-star reviews during this period halved.
