Azamat Jamangulov explained how the G-Cloud cloud platform works

On the air of Birinchi Radio, the Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic, Azamat Jamangulov, shared details about the functioning of the state cloud platform G-Cloud. He noted that during the digitalization of government agencies, each ministry acted in accordance with its powers and budget.

“In simple terms, each ministry purchased computers and carried out digitalization on them, storing data about their clients. As a result, information about each citizen accumulated in various ministries, creating a situation where data was stored on different devices with different specifications and years of manufacture. This essentially formed a technological zoo,” the minister explained.

Jamangulov emphasized that G-Cloud addresses the issue of data storage by providing a centralized location for personal and identification data of citizens. “Now all information will be stored in one place, rather than on multiple different computers,” he added.

The minister also highlighted that interaction between government agencies has become more efficient. Previously, ministries connected computers to transfer information, but now this is done through a unified space.

“As I mentioned, quick integrations and information exchange between government agencies are necessary for creating proactive public services,” he explained.

Security remains a priority for G-Cloud. The minister noted that the project was implemented in collaboration with the World Bank and the Korean organization KOICA, which introduced modern solutions in the field of cybersecurity and personal data protection.

“These aspects are the essence of G-Cloud. I understand that we are talking about this, but for the population, it may not be so obvious, as they cannot see or feel it. However, it is on the infrastructure of G-Cloud that the mobile application ‘Tunduk’ is built, through which citizens access services,” he added.

Additionally, the minister reported on the current implementation of a data backup storage system. He explained that this infrastructure should have two levels of duplication: a backup data center (DC) and a third DC that will be used in case of emergencies. This will allow data to be preserved on separate media that can be used on other devices if necessary.
