Richard Branson, the renowned British businessman and founder of the Virgin Group, announced the passing of his wife, Joan Branson. This was revealed in a message posted on Branson's Instagram page, where he expressed his deep feelings, calling Joan his "best friend" and the "guiding light" of his life.
The cause of death has not been disclosed. Branson, who is now 75 years old, noted that Joan was a "wonderful mother and grandmother."
The couple married in 1989 on Necker Island, owned by Branson, located in the Caribbean Sea. They have three children — Holly, Sam, and Claire Sarah, who unfortunately passed away four days after birth. The couple also has five grandchildren.
Holly Branson previously shared that her mother grew up in Glasgow and began her career in a pawn shop, later working in an antique shop on Portobello Road in London. It was there, she said, that Richard Branson first noticed and fell in love with his future wife, visiting the shop for several months.
Richard Branson became famous for founding Virgin Records in the 1970s, after which his business expanded into air travel, telecommunications, and even space tourism.
