According to information from a video posted on their profile, law enforcement demanded that the woman remove her niqab and pay a fine of 20,000 soms on November 4.
Earlier, on October 15, police in the city of Osh conducted raids as part of Operation "Extremist," during which 28 Muslim women were forced to remove their niqabs, and each was fined.
It is worth noting that in January of this year, a law came into effect in Kyrgyzstan prohibiting the wearing of clothing that makes it difficult to identify a person in public places. A violation of this law carries a fine of 20,000 soms.
President Sadyr Japarov has expressed opposition to wearing the niqab and burqa, which completely cover the face, emphasizing the importance of this issue for public safety. His opinion was supported by the Muftiyat, which noted that wearing the niqab is not mandatory for Muslim women.
