On Kulaly Island, located in the Caspian Sea, the bodies of 71 seals have been discovered. The causes of their deaths remain unknown, reports the news agency.
Specialists from the laboratory and analytical control department of the ecology department of the Mangistau region, together with representatives of the fish inspection authority, conducted a survey of the coastline on November 8, after dead seals were found.
During the monitoring process, water samples were collected for further laboratory studies. The results of these analyses will help determine what factors may have led to the seals' deaths and assess the current state of the marine ecosystem in this region.
It should be noted that at the beginning of November, 112 dead Caspian seals were also found in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangistau region. Ecologists immediately went to the scene after residents of Bautino reported the carcasses of the animals.
