At a meeting held last week in New Delhi, Narendra Modi emphasized that the terrorist attacks that occurred in Pahalgam (in the Jammu and Kashmir state) and at the "Crocus City Hall" concert venue in the Moscow region have a single source. According to Indian Times, this statement was made during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Modi stressed that India and Russia have been jointly fighting terrorism for a long time. He noted that terrorism threatens the fundamental values of humanity and requires united efforts to eradicate it.
During the summit, important issues related to cross-border terrorism were discussed, and the parties confirmed their desire to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in combating extremism, organized crime, the financing of terrorism, and drug trafficking.
In a joint statement released following the meeting, India and Russia condemned the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam that occurred on April 22, 2025, and the attack on "Crocus City Hall" on March 22, 2024. The leaders of the two countries noted that terrorist acts cannot be justified by any religious or ideological considerations and called for coordinated actions against all terrorist groups that are on the UN sanctions lists, including "Al-Qaeda" and ISIS.
The parties also highlighted the need to eliminate terrorist hideouts, cut off financial flows, and control the movement of militants. They reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the principles of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
According to The Economic Times, the organizer of the terrorist attack at "Crocus City Hall," carried out by supporters of the "Islamic State" "Wilayat Khorasan," turned out to be a citizen of Tajikistan, who reportedly entered Pakistan from Afghanistan.
