The Norwegian Nobel Committee commented on the awarding of the Peace Prize medal, which took place at the initiative of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, to U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the committee noted: "Once the Nobel Prize winners are announced, the Nobel Prize cannot be revoked, divided, or transferred to others. The decision remains final and relevant for all time... Although the medal may change hands, the status of Nobel Peace Prize laureate remains unchanged."
Recently, Maria Corina Machado announced that she had awarded her Nobel Peace Prize medal to Donald Trump. During their meeting at the White House, which lasted over two hours, issues concerning the situation in Venezuela were discussed.
Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 for her "tireless efforts to protect the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people." Donald Trump, in turn, has repeatedly stated that he believes his peacekeeping efforts are worthy of a Nobel Prize.
