In his recent speech, which was broadcast on Iranian state television, Ayatollah Khamenei openly acknowledged for the first time that "several thousand" people have died during the protests. He pointed to the responsibility of both the protesters and the U.S. authorities for these tragic events, reporting this to the Associated Press.

During his speech, Khamenei called U.S. President Donald Trump a "criminal," claiming that he is responsible for the suffering and misinformation directed against the Iranian people.

According to him, Trump incited the protesters, even promising them military assistance.

Additionally, Khamenei stated that the protesters were armed with firearms, which he claimed were obtained from abroad, but did not specify where they came from.

The Supreme Leader also added that the Iranian authorities intend to hold accountable not only the protesters but also those they consider the organizers of these actions.

He emphasized: "We are not leading the country into war. However, we will not leave unpunished either domestic offenders or international criminals."
