Trump stated that 'tough' measures against Iran are being considered due to protests

Trump also commented on whether Iran has crossed the previously established "red line" regarding violence against protesters. He noted: "It seems they are starting to cross that line, and apparently, the number of casualties is increasing. These people, who are called leaders, may simply be using violence to control. We are taking this situation very seriously. The military is working on this issue, and we are exploring several tough options. A decision will be made." These words were conveyed by Clash Report.

Additionally, Trump reported that Iranian authorities expressed a desire to negotiate with the U.S.: "We may have to act before the meeting takes place. <…> The question of the meeting is currently being worked out. Iran has contacted us. They want to negotiate." The president is also in touch with leaders of the Iranian opposition, according to Reuters.

Since December of last year, mass protests have been taking place in Iran, with participants demanding a change in the political regime. According to the human rights organization HRANA, at least 544 people have died as a result of the actions. Iranian authorities have accused the U.S. and Israel of organizing these protests.
