The situation in Iran remains tense: mass protests that began two weeks ago continue, despite internet shutdowns and harsh measures from law enforcement. On Saturday night, residents of Tehran and other cities took to the streets again, as reported by BBC News.

The main cause of public anger has been sharp price hikes and the rapid decline of the Iranian rial against the dollar, which has increased in value by 80 percent over the past year.

However, economic demands quickly evolved into political ones: protesters began expressing their desire to abolish the Islamic Republic and restore the monarchy.
Meanwhile, Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last Shah of Iran, has called on protesters to seize key squares in cities.
According to the human rights organization Human Rights Activist News Agency (HRANA), the number of casualties among protesters has already reached about 50, while 15 security personnel have also died, and the number of arrests has exceeded 2,311.

This data is confirmed by the Norwegian organization Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO), which also reports that among the dead are nine children.

In Tehran, at the main ophthalmology center Farabi, a crisis mode has been introduced due to the overload of emergency services. A doctor reported that staff were urgently called to work, and planned surgeries and hospitalizations have been temporarily suspended.
