According to Donald Trump, starting January 12, all countries doing business with Iran will be burdened with a 25% tariff. He announced this through his social network Truth Social.

“From this moment on, all countries that conduct transactions with the Islamic Republic of Iran will be required to pay a 25% tariff on all operations with the U.S. This order is final and not subject to appeal,” he stated.

According to Bloomberg, among Iran's main trading partners are China, India, and Turkey.

Trump also mentioned that the U.S. administration and military are exploring possible actions to support the protesters in Iran. “We are considering several serious options, and the military is analyzing the situation,” he added, emphasizing that he is in contact with the Iranian opposition. On January 11, he reported that the Iranian leadership had approached him with a request for negotiations.

According to the human rights organization Iran Human Rights (IHR), as of the evening of January 12, at least 648 people have died as a result of the suppression of protests by Iranian authorities, including nine minors.

Protests against the regime in Iran began on December 28, 2025. Trump previously stated on January 2 in his social network that the U.S. would intervene if security forces began firing on peaceful demonstrators.
