Matthias Fletzberger (1965, Vienna) is a well-known Austrian conductor and pianist specializing in classical music.

At the young age of 5, Matthias Fletzberger began his studies at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. At 12, he won first prize at the Austrian youth competition "Jugend musiziert" and continued his studies in the concert class of Hans Graf, where he graduated with honors. Among his teachers were masters such as Bruno Seidlhof, Tatiana Nikolayeva, Jacques Rouvier, Nicole Henriot-Schweitzer, and Leon Fleisher. Even during his student years, he won prizes at international piano competitions, including Busoni, Rubinstein, and Bösendorfer.
On the advice of Rolf Liebermann and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Matthias began his career as an opera conductor. He worked as a répétiteur in Salzburg and the Prague State Opera, as well as a musical director at the Vienna Festival. His experience includes the position of Kapellmeister at the St. Gallen Theater. After several years as the general director of the Sofiensaal, Vienna's largest cultural center, where he presented a variety of events, he decided to return to classical music.
Since 2008, Fletzberger has been actively performing as a conductor and pianist, including solo performances, accompaniment, and chamber music. In 2011, his album Violin in Motion was released on the Deutsche Grammophon label, featuring arrangements of famous ballets by Lydia Baich and Matthias Fletzberger. His conducting debut in North America took place in January 2013 as part of the concert program "Greetings from Vienna" in Montreal and Quebec.
In 2017 and 2018, together with theater and film producer Selçuk Kara, Fletzberger developed the musical concept for the opera "The Charm of Wagner," which was first presented in Prague in collaboration with the National Theatre of Prague in October 2018. From 2018 to 2020, he served as the conductor for the first South Korean production of Wagner's "Ring of the Nibelung" at the Seoul Arts Center, directed by Achim Freyer.
