On December 8, Professor Liu Zhengyun visited Ulaanbaatar, one of the most famous contemporary authors from China.
He was a guest at the Mongolian premiere of his novel "Гурван намраас урт ганц өдөр" (One Day Like Three Autumns), which was translated and published in Mongolian by Chimedtseem Menerel, who received the "Biligt Guush" award named after the translator Genendaram Jamsran last year.
According to Chimedtseem, on December 19, just a few days after his arrival in Mongolia, Liu Zhengyun will participate in a round table "China-Europe," which will take place at the UNESCO headquarters in Ulaanbaatar along with the famous French writer Marc Levy.
Before heading to Mongolia, the author also visited Vietnam, where a presentation of his novel took place, which was translated and published in that country. His most famous work "Түмэн үгтэй тэнцэх ганц үг" (One Word is Worth a Thousand) has also become available in Mongolian thanks to Chimedtseem Menerel.
Critics and researchers refer to his novel as the "Chinese One Hundred Years of Solitude," as it addresses complex human relationships in rural China, exploring themes of conscience, fate, loneliness, suffering, and loss.
In 2011, this work received the Mao Dun Literary Prize, the highest literary award in China, and has been translated into more than 20 languages, including English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Swedish.
Liu Zhengyun (劉震云) is not only a writer but also a professor at the Institute of Liberal Arts at Renmin University of China. He is also a member of the National Committee of the Writers' Association of China and the Beijing Youth Federation, as well as a recipient of the Dandai and Mao Dun awards. His work is characterized by subtle humor and deep observations of urban life and the everyday concerns of people. Liu's permanent residence is in Beijing.
